I think its interesting now that Saddam has been sentenced to a hanging - the EU and other civil rights minded people are weighing in. They didn't seem to mind so much as to what was occuring under Saddam's rule.
Also, it is interesting with this multi-culti, pc and tolerant crowd that we are now not allowed to honor Saddam's culture. Wouldn't a hanging be appropriate in his culture? We have tolerance of other cultures, ethnics groups and religions shoved down our throats everyday. But, now these same people who tell us about the middle-eastern culture -- that we need to respect it -- don't find a hanging fitting. Come on people, stop being hypocrites.
By there culture, would not Beheading be the viable option.
But this is Saddam, how about Gassing or feet first into a tree chipper....
Either way the pig must die and be put to death in a very public forum.
Although keeping him alive and in solitary would be so much fun and what a great tourist attraction, Spandau Prison but on a Disney land scale.
"there [sic] culture"???
Whose culture CrankyRight? Sadam's? Or some sort of ethereal 'culture of the enemy' cranks like you live to imagine exists?
Oh! Phil you flaming Idiot… The Best Part of You ran down your mothers leg.
Qur'anic scripture. Sura (chapter) 47 contains the ayah (verse): "When you encounter the unbelievers on the battlefield, strike off their heads until you have crushed them completely; then bind the prisoners tightly." The Qur'anic Arabic terms are generally straightforward: kafaru means "those who blaspheme/are irreligious," although Darb ar-riqab is less clear. Darb can mean "striking or hitting" while ar-riqab translates to "necks, slaves, persons." With little variation, scholars have translated the verse as, "When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks."
If that’s not good for you how about this piss ant.
Beheading has particular prominence in Saudi Arabia. In 2003 alone, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia beheaded more than fifty people. This number included both Muslim and non-Muslim workers. Over the past two decades, the Saudis have decapitated at least 1,100 for alleged crimes ranging from drug running to witchcraft and apostasy. The Saudi government not only uses beheadings to punish criminals but also to terrorize potential opponents. One famous example involved a Saudi national guardsman named Juhayman al-‘Utaybi. In late 1979, the start of the fifteenth century in the Islamic calendar, ‘Utaybi declared his brother-in-law Muhammad bin Abd Allah al-Qahtani to be the Mahdi. They seized control of the holy mosque in Mecca and called on all Saudis to rise up against the government in Riyadh. The house of Saud responded forcibly with a shock-and-awe campaign. After a bloody battle, they regained control of the holy mosque. Within weeks, they had hunted down and either killed or captured the Mahdists. In early 1980, the Saudi government publicly beheaded ‘Utaybi and his imprisoned followers. While outsiders may consider the Saudi practice barbaric, most Saudi executions are swift, completed in one sword blow. Zarqawi and his followers have chosen a slow, torturous sawing method to terrorize the Western audience.
So, Yes it is part of there ”Culture” Get a clue and for Christ sake read a book once and awhile.
That's all very nice, you drooling moron, but what does any of the have to do with Sadam? Who, I might add, is a secular non-saudi. Though I'm sure with all the books you read you already knew that. Idiot.
Dickwad…
Who gives a Rats ass if he is “Secular” The law of the Land is Islamic law. And Saddam is Sunni which means he is ARAB. Saudi Arabia was used as an example of implementation of Sharia
OK, let me spell it out even further. Iraq is a predominately Muslim country here is the breakdown for your little mind:
Religion:
Muslim 97% (Shi'a 60%-65%, Sunni 32%-37%),
Christian or other 3%
Ethnicity:
Arab 75%-80%
Kurdish 15%-20%
Turkoman, Assyrian or other 5%
So by looking at this most educated people should be able to tell that there culture is an Arab Culture, (Not to be confused with Iran which is Persian)
The Legal system is based on European civil and Islamic law under the framework outlined in the Iraqi Constitution.
Under the Islamic law (Sharia) Saddam was convicted of a Hudden. The punishment prescribed for murder is beheading; for theft, the amputation of the right hand; for blasphemy, stoning, and for drunkenness, severe flagellation.
Do you get the Idea or are you just too stupid.
Again, that's all very nice. But such was not the law under Sadam.
I do find it entertaining though when "educated people" like you feel free to lump together whole regions into some monolithic culture.
Please do better, you vacuous moron.
WAKE UP! Saddam is not in power any more. If he was there would not have been a trial.
OK your brain power is overwhelming.
Name one country in the region that is not 'monolithic'?
Humm! Let see every country in the region except Israel is Muslim and as such subject to some form of Sharia Law.
Someone tell me why I’m debating this moron.
You're not debating. Or, if you are, you're doing so rather poorly. But keep trying...we're all in this together.
Perhaps you misunderstood my use of the word monolithic...it's a big word, I'll be more careful from now on. What I meant to allude to was your poorly concieved use of the idea 'they' (you actually said "there" but with you there's always an amount on interpretation involved.)
You talk of their culture as being Islamic and Arab, while in truth Iraq is not either of these things in any meaningful sense of the words, at least not for the last several decades.
Perhaps you meant some other 'they'...or are you really just dumb as a sack of hammers?
My money's on the second.
so...about that election...........
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....phew, joy is pretty tiring...suckers.
Hugs,
Phil
